Dr. Luis Ortiz is a residency-trained optometrist born and raised in Tampa, Florida, with a passion for delivering advanced, patient-centered eye care. He specialises in comprehensive eye exams, advanced contact lens fittings, ocular/refractive surgery co-management, general ocular disease, and severe dry eye disease.

He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree along with a Bachelor’s degree in Vision Science from Nova Southeastern University. He completed his residency at Newsom Eye and Laser Center, where he focused on ocular disease management, scleral lens fittings, and especially pre- and postoperative management of cutting-edge cataract/refractive surgery, including LAL and ICL implantation. In addition, Dr. Ortiz has a particular clinical focus on advanced therapies for severe dry eye disease, including in-office procedures, pharmaceutical management, and customized treatment plans for patients with chronic or treatment-resistant symptoms.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ortiz has a lifelong passion for soccer, his favorite team being FC Barcelona, and is thankful for the opportunity to have played NCAA Division II soccer at his undergraduate college. He also enjoys spending time with his family, the beach, fishing, pickleball, live music, traveling, and working with his hands.
