Mitchell Petit O.D.

Mitchell Petit, O.D. is a board-certified optometric physician specializing in primary medical eye care.  Dr. Petit conducts eye examinations for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of the visual system.  Areas with extensive training in co-managing pre and post-op refractive surgery and was involved in an FDA study for corneal cross-linking.  Dr. Petit will make sure you are optimizing your vision whether that be with glasses, contacts, or if other options such as cataract surgery are best for you. Other areas with extensive experience are with dry eye treatments which can affect how you are seeing the world around you.

Dr. Mitchell Petit received his undergraduate degree in Biology at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE.  He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL.  While in school in Chicago he traveled as a student doctor to Thailand and provided much-needed eye care to the rural communities Dr. Petit moved to the area in 2000 and the Tampa Bay area is now his home.

Some of Dr. Mitchell Petit’s past achievements include past President of the Hillsborough Society of Optometrist for 2 years, the State of Florida Board of Examiners in Optometry, and the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Dr. Petit was honored to receive the LASIK Plus PEARL award which is given to one optometrist a year for their outstanding clinical and leadership. He also competed and completed the 2003 Hawaiian Ironman triathlon.
