Renowned Clinic Offering Eyelid Surgery to Residents of Clearwater, FL
Reduced skin elasticity around your eyes can make you look older. It’s a common phenomenon: As we age, our eyelids stretch and the supporting muscles weaken, resulting in sagging eyebrows, droopy upper eyelids, bags under the eyes, and significant reduction in peripheral vision. If you’re a Clearwater, Florida, resident whose drooping eyelids are preventing you from opening your eyes completely or whose lower lids are sagging, consider eyelid surgery at St. Michael’s Eye & Laser Institute. As an award-winning vision center based in Largo, we offer a surgical procedure to effectively lift drooping eyelids, reduce puffiness in the upper and lower lids, and expand your field of vision. The result? You’ll see better and look younger, too.
What Does Eyelid Surgery Entail?
Known as blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery is a safe outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia. Your surgeon will create a small incision in the fold of the upper eyelid and trim away excess skin. Your eyelid will then be tightened and smoothed as the incision is closed. Your stitches will be removed after about a week. After two weeks, you will be able to resume your normal activities. At six weeks, you can expect to see the desired results of your surgery.
Is Eyelid Surgery Right for You?
At St. Michael’s, we can perform the procedure on the upper lids, lower lids, or both. Typically, you are a good candidate if you are healthy and have no medical conditions that can impair healing. We may be able to treat you if you have any of the following conditions:
- Bags under the eyes
- Sagging skin that creates folds or disturbs the natural contour of the upper eyelid, often obstructing vision
- Droopy lower lids that reveal white below the iris
- Excess skin and fine wrinkles of the lower lid
