What Does Cataract Surgery Entail?

A surgeon removes the clouded lens and replaces it with an artificial lens known as an intraocular lens. The procedure is relatively painless and takes an hour or less to perform. If you need treatment for both eyes, your doctor will schedule surgery to remove the cataract in the second eye after you’ve healed from the first surgery.

Recovery From Cataract Treatment

After surgery, you’ll need to protect your eye according to your doctor’s instructions for up to a week. During that time, you may experience some discomfort, but it eases as your eye heals. It takes about a month for the eye to heal completely.
